The View from Waydown

The view from Waydown is a quiet road.

Didn't a car just pass? No,

It's been forever since anyone's been this way.

Or was that one and I looked down for so long

I missed it?

From my house I can see Waydown from a lonely hall.

The window's stuck and the shades hang there,

Full of shadows, dust. But still light chokes its way in,

Arguing with the shadows, and the dustmotes

Glow like fireflies.

From Waydown you can see

Reflections in the dim waters beyond the road,

Faces, places, spaces. And in the dark waters,

I wait to see my face and Waydown

When the clouds part

At sunrise.
